Position Overview:

We are seeking a Customer Service Specialist I to deliver exceptional customer service by surpassing client expectations through advanced interpersonal skills, in-depth product knowledge, and effective problem-solving techniques. This role acts as a vital link between various departments, including Sales, Accounts Receivable, and Operations, to ensure optimal customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers, sales teams, and other departments to provide detailed information regarding products and services, including quotes, order processing, and status updates.
  • Occasionally assist in warehouse operations to support customer needs.
  • Handle customer inquiries, prioritizing urgent issues and ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lead times, product details, pricing, and shipping schedules to facilitate accurate information dissemination.
  • Document customer interactions and transactions, ensuring thorough records are maintained in relevant software systems.
  • Assist in the onboarding of new customers, collaborating with the credit and collections team to process applications.
  • Update and maintain customer master files, ensuring accuracy in contact details and specific requirements.
  • Support the Credit department in resolving invoice disputes and billing issues.
  • Provide freight estimates as needed, coordinating with Operations for accurate delivery information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is essential.
  • Experience with SAP is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in customer service or a related field is required.
  • Industry knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to type at least 30 words per minute.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations and apply fundamental algebra and geometry.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as required.
  • Competent telephone communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment, adhering to safety protocols.

Work Environment:

The physical demands of this role include the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds, as well as the capacity to sit or stand for extended periods. Employees must be able to navigate a warehouse setting that includes both indoor and outdoor conditions, and safety gear is required in designated areas.
