Position Responsibilities

The Lab Pack Chemist II is responsible for executing various assigned tasks and physical labor to ensure the safe off-site treatment and disposal of hazardous waste materials in line with environmentally sound practices and Clean Earth’s policies. This role includes overseeing small projects with guidance from supervisory personnel.

Key Duties Include:
  • Managing hazardous materials by inventorying, identifying, segregating, and packaging waste in accordance with Lab Pack policies and applicable regulations.
  • Conducting onsite services such as waste collection, consolidation, sampling, and compliance inspections as required by clients.
  • Supporting other operational groups, including Depack, Retail, and HHW, both internally and onsite.
  • Preparing shipments of packaged waste by inspecting, labeling, and loading into transport vehicles.
  • Completing necessary documentation, including shipping papers and Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR's), in compliance with regulations.
  • Maintaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat Endorsement for transporting personnel and waste.
  • Adhering to and promoting all Health & Safety procedures, including the development of on-site Health & Safety plans.
  • Conducting field testing for classification and packaging for transportation and disposal.
  • Mentoring new employees in field operations.
  • Performing site assessments to evaluate requirements for potential projects.
  • Assisting sales teams in estimating lab pack work.
  • Leading and coordinating field service/lab pack projects requiring multiple personnel.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Associate degree in General Science or equivalent experience.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean record.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL B) with Hazardous Material endorsement and a clean record.
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight trips.
  • Physical capability to lift and move materials frequently exceeding 55 lbs.
  • Fundamental understanding of chemistry through general chemistry or biology courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training.
  • Forklift Training.
  • 8 hours of DOT Training.
  • CPR/First Aid/Blood-borne Pathogen training.

The selected candidate will be required to pass a DOT physical, drug test, and DEA background check.
