Role Overview:

The Information Transport Service (ITS) Gateway (I-GATE) system facilitates secure messaging and information exchange within the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) environment. To support this mission, Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector is looking for a Principal Cyber Software Engineer to contribute to our team of skilled and diverse professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a System Administrator for Windows 2019/2022.
  • Oversee and maintain security updates for the Windows environment.
  • Create and document technical procedures.
  • Read, modify, and develop shell scripts and scripts in various programming languages.
  • Independently learn new technologies while effectively coordinating with others as necessary.
  • Lead collaborative efforts with peer system administrators, network engineers, security teams, and software/hardware engineers.
  • Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve performance and reliability, including installation, upgrades, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
  • Provide backup and recovery services; manage file systems and disk space; routinely oversee virus protection.
  • Test new product releases to ensure compatibility and minimize user disruption.
  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as required.
  • Advise on hardware, software, and system component purchases.
  • Engage with vendors to discuss and troubleshoot issues; evaluate vendor products and services.
  • Adhere to stringent Information Systems security protocols in all instances.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 6 years of experience OR Master's degree with 4 years of experience; 9 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Extensive experience in I-GATE administration.
  • Expertise in Information Transport Service (ITS) operations.
  • Administration experience with Windows Server 2019 or later.
  • SQL 2019 or later administration, including backup processes.
  • Active Directory design and implementation skills.
  • Proficiency in IIS administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows clustering.
  • Knowledge of SAN operations and maintenance.
  • Compliance with Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) policy for security updates.
  • Security+ certification.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical approaches and findings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Windows System Administration certification(s).
  • Strong understanding of system backup and restoration processes.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (VBScript, PowerShell, Cscript, etc.).

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900

This salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the position's scope and responsibilities, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director roles may qualify for Long Term Incentives. Additionally, Northrop Grumman offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for personal and vacation needs.
