Position Summary:

The role involves precise measurements, threading, and adjusting flange fits on pipe segments. Responsibilities also include operating machinery and utilizing a crane for pipe handling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess fabrication specifications indicated on each pipe (5%)
  • Secure the pipe in the machine, ensuring proper alignment, and proceed to machine tapered threads. The operator must verify measurements, including thread depth and taper accuracy (30%)
  • Test the flange to ensure a proper fit onto the pipe, making necessary adjustments if issues arise (10%)
  • Apply adhesive to the pipe and flange, then use machinery to secure the flange (20%)
  • Utilize cutting tools to ensure a flush fit of the flange onto the pipe (30%)
  • Carefully remove the finished pipe from the machine and place it on designated boards (5%)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong mathematical skills and proficiency in using measuring tools such as tape measures and micrometers
  • Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) are advantageous
  • Understanding of machinery operations

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience with machinery is advantageous

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This position is situated in a heavy industrial setting, exposing employees to various conditions such as extreme temperatures, noise, and vibration.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Job responsibilities may require standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, driving, and sitting.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory in the production area, including steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection as required.
