Position Overview:

Element Materials Technology is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to enhance our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in our focus on battery safety, performance evaluation, and failure analysis across diverse sectors such as automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics, and medical devices.

As a key member of our operations team, the Battery Testing Engineer will engage in a range of routine and specialized testing tasks within the Battery department. The role demands the delivery of assigned projects while ensuring prompt and precise test outcomes for our clientele with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute on-site evaluations of client products in accordance with specified standards. This involves comprehending designs and schematics, validating project scope, setting up equipment, and script development to deliver results to clients.
  • Conduct essential testing, including various battery cycling assessments, vibration tests, and temperature/humidity exposure.
  • Provide technical guidance and engineering expertise, facilitating the creation of innovative technologies and tailored test setups for unique battery testing requirements.
  • Simultaneously oversee multiple projects, ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of testing data to clients, including report generation.
  • Lead standard and routine technical problem-solving initiatives.
  • Communicate project progress and test findings to clients, commercial team members, and management throughout the testing process, while offering ongoing technical support.
  • Contribute to business development efforts with both new and existing clients.
  • Set up and operate standard testing apparatus across various sites, including battery cyclers and test stand controllers.
  • Assist in mentoring novice technicians and fellow engineers within the local laboratories.
  • Utilize internal knowledge and industry resources to reach sound testing conclusions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant scientific or testing discipline, preferably with a focus on electrical engineering.
  • Familiarity with battery testing systems such as Maccors and Neware.
  • Understanding of cells, batteries, modules, EV packs, and Electrical Energy Storage Systems, along with regulatory testing.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety and quality management systems, preferably ISO17025.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational and customer service abilities.
  • Proven ability to apply academic knowledge effectively within the context of battery testing services.
  • Comprehensive understanding of testing principles; capable of defining problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Adept at interpreting a wide range of technical instructions in various formats and managing multiple variables.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
