Valve Technician Role Overview

Objective:

The Valve Technician plays a crucial role in the maintenance and repair of steam turbine valves, ensuring adherence to safety, budgetary, scheduling, and quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize precision measuring tools such as micrometers and vernier calipers to determine dimensions or tolerances of components.
  • Verify the dimensions of finished products or components to confirm compliance with specifications.
  • Operate machinery for cutting and grinding tasks.
  • Disassemble, assess, and reassemble machinery and equipment using a variety of tools and instruments.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications to establish fabrication techniques.
  • Engage with engineering and manufacturing teams to share technical insights.
  • Assemble mechanical components and operate welding machinery.
  • Support projects through all phases, from initial planning to final testing.
  • Manage waste disposal and accurately document work activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and equipment.
  • Comply with OSHA regulations and company safety protocols.
  • Efficiently complete assigned tasks and report any safety issues to the Supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support organizational objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Execute maintenance and repair tasks as instructed by the Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisor and Project Engineering to ensure project alignment and address any concerns.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work activities to ensure continuity across shifts.
  • Record actions by completing production and quality logs.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • At least one year of experience in the maintenance and installation of machinery or industrial equipment.
  • Vocational training or trade school experience is advantageous.
  • Preferred experience in manual machining.
