Key Responsibilities:

The Logistics Operations Supervisor, under the guidance of the Logistics Manager, is tasked with ensuring the safe and effective functioning of the company's Logistics Department across all operational sites. This role places a significant emphasis on compliance with safety regulations, including adherence to relevant laws and policies, overseeing essential safety training, and conducting performance observations through direct engagement with drivers.

Essential Duties Include:

  • Assisting in the formulation of departmental strategies, policies, and standards that align with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Coordinating and directing departmental operations in accordance with established goals and policies for employees across all locations.
  • Overseeing the activities of departmental trainers to ensure training objectives are met, equipping all employees with the necessary skills for safe and effective job performance.
  • Planning and facilitating safety meetings and mandatory weekly safety training sessions.
  • Collaborating with equipment leasing companies to coordinate safety training and related events aimed at enhancing pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Ensuring regular safety assessments are conducted and performing safety evaluations in support of Driver Trainers, which includes audits of post-trip inspections and safety reviews.
  • Managing electronic equipment oversight, including in-cab cameras and ELD systems, ensuring compliance with training and performance standards.
  • Conducting counseling and corrective actions for driver infractions, followed by necessary remedial training.
  • Working alongside the Logistics Manager and Driver Trainers to assess the performance of direct reports, fostering a culture of retention while addressing performance issues through retraining or coaching.
  • Participating in the recruitment process for drivers and other Logistics Department personnel, with the authority to extend job offers to qualified candidates.
  • Conducting thorough investigations into truck accidents and personal injuries, reviewing findings with employees, defining required post-incident training, and sharing insights during safety meetings.
  • Collaborating with the Logistics Supervisor Support & Fleet Maintenance to manage the CSA score, developing strategies to ensure compliance and prevent violations.
  • Partnering with other logistics leaders to maintain compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of federal and state regulations governing the transportation of goods, particularly DOT regulations as outlined by the FMCSA. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in customer service principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with administrative procedures and record management.
  • Strong knowledge of tractor/trailer operations and warehouse equipment.
  • Competence in using computer systems for driver status updates and customer service inquiries.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for data management and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex problems and develop effective solutions.

Education and Experience:

Preferred qualifications include an Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Logistics, or a related field, along with five years of experience in fleet logistics, including two years in a supervisory role. Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree with three years of relevant experience may be considered.

Licenses and Certifications:

Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and may be subject to random testing. A Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A is preferred, along with experience driving tractor-trailers.

Work Schedule:

This position typically follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with flexibility in start and end times. Additional hours may be required as needed.
