JOB TITLE: Chemistry Teacher

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

Our Science educators collaborate diligently with their peers to ensure that all students not only grasp scientific methodologies for exploration and inquiry but also achieve the established educational standards by the conclusion of the academic year. This vital work is supported through administrative coaching, consistent feedback, teamwork, data-driven analysis, and targeted interventions for students who may be struggling.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute comprehensive unit plans and lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of all students, ensuring alignment with educational standards and effective assessments to evaluate student understanding.
  • Engage in bi-weekly coaching sessions to deepen content knowledge, refine teaching strategies, and enhance classroom management skills.
  • Collaborate within a learning community alongside fellow educators, participating in grade-level meetings, content teams, and ongoing professional development throughout the academic year.
  • Fulfill school-related responsibilities, which may include student conferences, managing arrival and dismissal, overseeing transitions, lunch supervision, and other duties as assigned by school leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate for our Science teaching position is enthusiastic about nurturing young scientists, enjoys working with students who require additional support, is adaptable, receptive to coaching, and eager to develop professionally.

Experience:

  • Preferred minimum of two years of teaching experience, though not mandatory.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations or in urban educational settings is advantageous.

Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Candidates must possess either (a) a valid Tennessee teaching license with the appropriate content endorsement for Chemistry, or (b) a valid out-of-state license that can be transferred to Tennessee within 90 days of employment, or (c) demonstrate progress towards obtaining the necessary certification in Tennessee.
