Position Overview

North Suffolk Community Services Inc. is seeking a dedicated Mobile Crisis Response Coordinator to enhance our Emergency Services team. This role involves close collaboration with local law enforcement to provide immediate support to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage directly with law enforcement to assist in responding to incidents involving individuals showing signs of mental health challenges, offering on-site evaluations and facilitating access to community resources.
  • Deliver urgent psychiatric clinical services to clients, including youth and families, ensuring their immediate needs are met.
  • Coordinate with other service providers and manage pre-screening for insurance coverage to determine suitable levels of care.
  • Work alongside emergency services personnel to ensure ongoing support and effective treatment planning throughout the crisis intervention process.
  • Implement Youth Mobile Crisis Intervention (YMCI) protocols, providing in-home crisis support and ensuring follow-up care is arranged with relevant team members.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients, assessing their treatment needs and developing tailored treatment plans in collaboration with clients and their guardians.
  • Identify client strengths and needs, facilitating the planning and execution of necessary care in partnership with community resources.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and collaborative discussions with law enforcement and behavioral health units.
  • Assess and respond to crisis situations promptly, providing appropriate interventions for clients.
  • Availability for weekend, holiday, and shift rotations is essential.
Qualifications
  • Educational Background: A Master’s Degree in a relevant clinical specialty that qualifies for Medicaid reimbursement is required.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of one year in a psychiatric emergency service or a comparable environment is necessary. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Additional Skills: A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required, as off-site travel is part of the role.
