Portland Oregon, United States Signature Healthcare at Home Full time

Overview:
Embrace Your Calling - Volunteer with Hospice Care

Hospice focuses on enhancing the quality of life. Your empathy and caring presence can significantly impact the lives of patients and their families. Signature Healthcare at Home invites you to contribute your time and compassion to support individuals in your community facing terminal illnesses.

Responsibilities:

Our volunteer training equips you to offer companionship and emotional support to patients and families during challenging times.

Your experience as a volunteer will vary greatly, reflecting the unique interests and life stories of each patient.

You might enjoy peaceful walks in a garden, or perhaps you will engage in heartfelt conversations about their past experiences and cherished memories.

By providing a listening ear, you may help alleviate current concerns and worries. Your comforting presence can be a source of healing, reminding patients that they are valued beyond their illness.

Our volunteer roles encompass direct companionship and support for patients and families.

Activities may include writing letters, reading aloud, playing games, sharing music, engaging in conversations, or simply enjoying quiet moments together, whether watching television or appreciating nature. You may also assist with fulfilling bucket list wishes or creating legacy projects for loved ones.

We are particularly in need of volunteers with specific interests or hobbies to share.

Do you play a musical instrument? Are you part of a certified pet therapy team with a pet eager to bring joy to a patient? Would you like to join our vigil support team, providing compassionate presence during a patient’s final moments after receiving additional training? Our training prepares you for various ways to connect with patients and support them through their end-of-life journey.

Qualifications/Skillsets:
Signature Healthcare at Home serves patients and families within the community. You will have the opportunity to visit patients and families in your local area.

To learn more about this rewarding opportunity, please reach out for further information. We look forward to connecting with you.
