Position: Assistant Professor in Advanced Materials Engineering
Role Overview:

Essential Qualifications:
- A PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline at the time of appointment.
- A strong track record of research and publication achievements.
Position Information:
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Northwestern University is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty role at the Assistant Professor level. We are particularly interested in candidates specializing in medical materials or biomaterials. Applicants should demonstrate the capability to conduct impactful research that will advance the field and address significant challenges in the design and integration of materials for medical applications and biological systems.

Department Overview:
As the first academic department of its kind globally, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern University is at the forefront of materials innovation and education. Our faculty members adopt a transdisciplinary approach, linking fundamental science with engineering research to develop technologies that enhance quality of life. The MSE Department comprises 24 faculty members, over 200 graduate students, 70 post-doctoral scholars, and 100 undergraduates. Our research spans various sub-disciplines of materials science and engineering, with substantial research funding. Faculty members collaborate across multiple departments and institutions, fostering interdisciplinary partnerships.
