Department Overview:
Northwestern University's Department of Radio/Television/Film is seeking a distinguished educator in the field of media production, specifically focusing on narrative filmmaking for both cinema and television. This role involves imparting knowledge of narrative techniques and aesthetics to both undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in our esteemed MFA in Documentary Media program.
Position Type: Open Rank, Tenure-Eligible
This position is open to candidates at any academic rank, including the possibility of hiring at the Full Professor level. We are looking for a filmmaker with a notable or emerging reputation on a national and international scale, who has made significant contributions to the field through an innovative portfolio of work in directing and/or producing theatrical films and scripted television series. Additional expertise in writing, editing, cinematography, or other cinematic disciplines is advantageous.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
We encourage applications from candidates who engage with various media forms, as we maintain strong collaborative relationships with the Department of Theatre, the Department of Performance Studies, and the Department of Communication Studies. We particularly welcome candidates who emphasize underrepresented voices in their work.
Core Responsibilities:
- Delivering instruction in the RTVF production curriculum.
- Contributing to the service and development of the Department of Radio/Television/Film.
