Project Insights

Through the Private Sector Engagement Modernization Contract (PSEMC), Dexis collaborates with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to enhance partnerships with the private sector, aiming for improved development outcomes. The PSE Hub's objective is to establish the necessary institutional frameworks, operational structures, and capabilities to foster engagement with the private sector in the U.S. and partner nations. This initiative seeks to modernize USAID's approach to development by embedding PSE policies and offering support for capacity and systems building across various sectors and countries.

Position Summary

Dexis is looking for one or more Program Assistants to join the independent Office of the Chief Economist (OCE). This role is fully integrated within the OCE team, collaborating closely with OCE personnel and other essential stakeholders. The ideal candidate will focus on operational excellence and excel in establishing and maintaining effective processes within a dynamic governmental environment.

The OCE enhances USAID's programming effectiveness and global engagement by applying robust economic theories and evidence. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Advocating for the integration of high-quality evidence regarding cost-effectiveness in decision-making processes.
  2. Encouraging the generation of cost-effectiveness evidence that USAID is uniquely positioned to facilitate.
  3. Providing analytical support and guidance to agency leadership on significant macroeconomic challenges.

This is a full-time role with a hybrid telework option. The selected candidate will work primarily from a designated office location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion effective knowledge management, including the organization of OCE files, documents, and administrative tracking systems, and assisting in the creation of dynamic databases for operational activities.
  • Support OCE's budget management, including preparation of budget requests, monitoring execution against plans, and ensuring compliance with pre-obligation requirements.
  • Assist with staffing processes, including recruitment paperwork and dissemination of vacancy announcements.
  • Oversee the clearance process for OCE, managing requests for inputs and document clearances.
  • Facilitate internal and external communications, including the development of newsletters and logistics for events.
  • Manage the process for OCE's acceptance of gifts, including preparation of necessary paperwork and monitoring receipt of funds.
  • Support technical teams in organizing intra-agency meetings, including agenda preparation and tracking follow-ups.
  • Maintain OCE listservs and manage communications received through OCE's inbox.
  • Identify and implement standard operating procedures to enhance OCE's operational efficiency.
  • Develop a working knowledge of USAID policies and guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree with two years of relevant experience, including at least one year in an operational role.
  • Demonstrated commitment to operational excellence.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in managing information using spreadsheets and applying data for decision-making.
  • Basic understanding of budget formulation and management.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Quick learner of new systems and processes.
  • Strong writing and editing capabilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.

Preferred

  • Interest or experience in global development, evidence-based policymaking, or economics.
  • Active security clearance.
