At Advocate Aurora Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ultrasound Resource Coordinator to join our team. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and coordination skills to ensure the smooth operation of our Ultrasound Department.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide technical direction to ultrasound technologists to ensure continuity of daily department service.
- Coordinate activities of the Ultrasound Department, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.
- Ensure staff prepares and submits necessary paperwork on a timely basis to maximize procedure turnaround time.
- Assign activities to staff on a daily basis and monitor those activities throughout the day.
- Responsible for encouraging teamwork among staff through regular rounding on associates to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources.
- Maintain positive guest relations when dealing with patients, fellow associates, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor operations in a proactive manner to eliminate potential patient scheduling problems, flexing staff coverage to meet demand.
- Promptly identify and communicate problems and critical issues to the manager and recommend corrective actions.
- Order supplies as needed using proper levels of resources.
- Maintain correct patient records as required, including assembling daily patient schedules.
- Be knowledgeable of and operate all required computer programs, including RadNet and PACS, to successfully complete coordinator duties.
- Treat all patients and customers with respect and compassion.
- Utilize appropriate phone etiquette.
- Provide an environment conducive to privacy for all patients.
- Maintain patient confidentiality according to hospital policies.
- Complete and add to existing protocols for ultrasound procedures in conjunction with radiologists.
- Position, transfer, and immobilize patients for procedures to ensure optimal quality exams are obtained.
- Operate portable ultrasound equipment when required to perform portable procedures as requested throughout the hospital.
- Assist physicians with various recommendations for obtaining optimal studies by suggesting selections for technical factors for procedures.
- Responsible for keeping abreast of current ultrasound skills and developments in the field of ultrasound.
- Provide instruction and assistance to students and fellow technologists orientating in ultrasound.
- Display technical competence in imaging and the associated systems and act as a resource for those areas.
- Maintain annual CPR certification to further ensure safety of patients in department.
- Operate all equipment in a safe manner in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures on safety.
- Use Standard Precautions in daily performance of procedures. Protect self against bodily fluid contact.
- Maintain hospital department disaster, fire, and evacuation policy.
- Promote patient safety by reporting issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives.
- Attend and actively participate in all mandatory in-services / meetings.
