Job Overview

We have an opportunity for an Ultrasound Tech at Shriners Children's Chicago. This position will utilize ultrasound equipment to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data, using ultrasound equipment to aid the physician in the diagnosis of disease and injury. Our top healthcare professionals excel in their practices and provide compassionate, family-centered care to children who need it most.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains and monitors quality assessment practices and procedures to ensure appropriate and proper patient care.
  • Accurately interprets oral and written requests stated in radiologic and medical terms.
  • Notifies imaging Manager of equipment malfunction and obtains necessary repairs.
  • Performs other operational functions, in support of assigned department to ensure quality services.
  • Assists in maintaining imaging files to ensure easy retrievability in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the preparation of images for interpretation and imaging reports for image file jackets.
  • Assesses patients' needs prior to performance of examination.
  • Consistent review of prior imaging studies before starting an imaging exam.
  • Directs questions, regarding appropriateness of an ultrasound request to the Imaging Manager, Radiologist, or staff physician.
  • Operates and performs ultrasound exams independently according to physician's orders.
  • Assists in the copy request for Shriners Hospital images and images received from outside medical facilities.
  • Monitors assigned quality assessment activities and recording of data in the designated binder as assigned.
  • Demonstrated awareness of the department PACS, RADNET, and SHCIS program and its operation.

Qualifications Required: Two years related Pediatric Ultrasound work experience, American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
