Position: Field Service Technician for Water Treatment Equipment

Supervisor: V.P. Equipment Operations

Objective: Our mission is to provide reliable and efficient pretreatment and chemical feed systems that require minimal installation time and technical expertise from our team and clients. Our primary revenue source is the sale of water treatment chemicals.

Job Purpose: The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation and commissioning of critical water treatment equipment tailored for sterile processing environments in healthcare facilities. This role is essential for ensuring the effective operation of water purification systems.

Authority Level: The Field Service Technician operates autonomously to manage the installation and commissioning of critical water treatment systems. Responsibilities include:

  • Making real-time decisions on the setup and operational adjustments of water purification systems to meet critical standards.
  • Conducting thorough system checks and performance validations to ensure optimal operation.
  • Collaborating with facility management and equipment manufacturers to address issues and provide recommendations.
  • Training facility staff on the proper operation and maintenance of water treatment systems.

Work Environment: The Field Service Technician primarily works in healthcare settings, focusing on sterile processing departments where critical water equipment is installed and maintained.

  • Engagement in various healthcare environments, including hospitals and surgical centers.
  • Responsibilities are conducted in technical areas such as mechanical rooms and sterile processing units.
  • Exposure to diverse environmental conditions, including temperature-controlled and high-humidity areas.
  • Requires significant independent work, necessitating self-sufficiency in diagnosing issues and performing installations.
  • Physical demands include lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.

Work Schedule:

The Field Service Technician's hours align with the operational needs of healthcare facilities, typically:

  • Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility for urgent needs.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation for urgent repairs outside regular hours may be required.
  • Hours may vary based on project complexity and scale, with potential for additional hours during peak periods.

Travel Expectations:

The Field Service Technician is expected to travel for job responsibilities, including:

  • Primarily regional travel, with occasional assignments in different cities or states, potentially requiring overnight stays.
  • Travel frequency will depend on project schedules and service requirements.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and commission water purification systems, including softeners, filtration, reverse osmosis, and distribution systems.
  • Engage professionally with clients and Chem-Aqua representatives to address concerns and ensure satisfaction.
  • Perform testing and validation of equipment to meet industry standards.
  • Provide training on the operation and maintenance of water purification systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Offer ongoing support and maintenance services for optimal equipment performance.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols while on-site.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in engineering or water treatment preferred.
  • Experience in the installation and maintenance of water purification systems.
  • Strong understanding of water treatment technologies.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with healthcare staff.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment for installation and maintenance.

Physical and Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to handle physical demands, including lifting and working in confined spaces.
  • Good depth perception and color distinction.
  • Strong customer service skills to manage client relationships effectively.
