Position Summary:

We are in search of a highly skilled and strategically focused professional for the role of Workers' Compensation Manager. The ideal candidate will prioritize employee welfare and possess hands-on experience in investigating and reporting work-related injuries while collaborating with insurance providers. This position demands a proactive and cooperative approach to safety, risk management, and employee wellness, complemented by strong communication, analytical, and organizational abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute effective injury prevention strategies and safety programs in alignment with OSHA standards and best practices.
  • Work alongside HR and other departments to cultivate a culture of safety and wellness throughout the organization.
  • Continuously enhance occupational health and safety practices while ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the management of workers' compensation claims from initiation to resolution, maintaining organized records for all claims.
  • Analyze data and trends related to workers' compensation to identify improvement opportunities and implement cost-reduction strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and state regulations while updating policy documentation.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of workplace incidents, preparing reports and submitting necessary forms to insurance carriers promptly.
  • Maintain open communication with injured employees post-incident to discuss details and required documentation.
  • Perform in-depth analyses of workplace incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, showcasing key metrics, trends, and initiatives related to workers' compensation and occupational health.
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers, medical providers, and legal counsel to manage claims effectively.
  • Respond to requests for information from insurance carriers as needed, including wage verification.
  • Facilitate monthly reviews of workers' compensation with insurance carriers.
  • Organize Safety Committee meetings, including agenda creation and documentation of meeting minutes.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding workers' compensation policies, procedures, and benefits, including return-to-work strategies.
  • Update tracking systems for OSHA-related records.
  • Complete annual mandatory OSHA reporting.
  • Distribute required federal, state, and company workers' compensation and OSHA postings.
  • Collaborate with the benefits team to transition employees to leave of absence when necessary.
  • Work closely with the payroll team to coordinate wage replacement as required.
  • Complete Bureau of Labor Statistics reporting.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in workers' compensation and occupational health.
  • Update state-specific workers' compensation procedures and provide training to location leads.
  • Attend hearings as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective injury prevention and safety initiatives.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in a professional environment.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, workers' compensation laws, and healthcare industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Detail-oriented with robust organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with workers' compensation management software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information discreetly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to empathize and support injured employees.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage stressful situations effectively.

Location: HouseWorks Home Care, onsite 3 days per week; local travel may be required (10%).
