Position Summary:
We are in search of a highly skilled and strategically oriented professional for the role of Workers Compensation Manager. The ideal candidate will prioritize employee welfare and possess hands-on experience in investigating and reporting work-related injuries while collaborating with insurance providers. This position demands a proactive and cooperative approach to safety, risk management, and employee wellness, complemented by exceptional communication, analytical, and organizational abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute effective injury prevention strategies and safety programs in line with OSHA standards and industry best practices.
- Work in partnership with HR and other stakeholders to foster a culture of safety and wellness throughout the organization.
- Oversee the continuous enhancement of occupational health and safety, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards.
- Manage the lifecycle of workers' compensation claims from initiation to resolution, maintaining organized records for all claims.
- Analyze workers' compensation data and trends to pinpoint areas for improvement and implement strategies to minimize costs and mitigate risks.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and state regulations while updating policy documentation.
- Conduct thorough investigations of accidents, prepare reports, and submit necessary forms to insurance carriers promptly.
- Maintain open communication with injured employees following incidents to discuss injury details and required documentation.
- Perform comprehensive investigations and analyses of workplace incidents to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent future occurrences.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting critical metrics, trends, and initiatives related to workers' compensation and occupational health.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers, medical providers, and legal counsel to manage claims effectively.
- Respond to requests for information from insurance carriers as needed, including wage requests.
- Facilitate monthly workers' compensation review meetings with insurance carriers.
- Organize Safety Committee Meetings, including agenda creation and documentation of meeting minutes.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees regarding workers' compensation policies, procedures, and benefits, including return-to-work processes.
- Update tracking systems for OSHA-related records.
- Complete annual mandatory OSHA reporting.
- Distribute federal, state, and company-required workers' compensation and OSHA postings at office locations.
- Collaborate closely with the benefits team to assist employees transitioning to leave of absence when necessary.
- Work with the payroll team to coordinate wage replacement as required.
- Complete Bureau of Labor Statistics reporting.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices related to workers' compensation and occupational health.
- Update state-specific workers' compensation procedures and provide training to location leads on these procedures.
- Attend hearings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective injury prevention programs and safety initiatives.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in a professional environment.
- In-depth understanding of OSHA regulations, workers' compensation laws, and healthcare industry standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable insights.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with employees at all organizational levels.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with workers' compensation management software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and support for injured employees.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage stressful situations.

Location: HouseWorks Home Care, onsite 3 days per week; local travel may be required (10%)
