Position Overview

The primary role of the registered technologist at Raleigh Radiology involves delivering diagnostic imaging services, including mammographic assessments and bone mineral density (BMD) evaluations. The technologist is accountable for managing patient care and adhering to established protocols, policies, and specific directives. Registration in the modalities of Radiography and Mammography is essential, with a requirement to rotate through all modalities, including BMD.

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, with floating responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

1) General Diagnostic Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional care standards and ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Implement policies and procedures of Raleigh Radiology.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures safely and efficiently, ensuring all required views are completed.
  • Assess patients' physical and psychosocial conditions, prioritizing needs and setting goals accordingly.
  • Document and report significant observations and reactions to care provided.
  • Administer contrast agents to designated patients.
  • Assist with specific tests and procedures as necessary.
  • Participate in the economical use of supplies.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and ready for use.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and physicians to provide optimal patient care.
  • Foster open communication and utilize teaching opportunities with patients and their families.
  • Respond to emergencies and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

2) Patient Care Activities

  • Gather initial patient history and conduct assessments.
  • Document patient history accurately.
  • Perform ongoing assessments, including vital signs and relevant medical history.
  • Monitor and assess patients throughout their visits.
  • Provide concise and accurate information to the Radiologist for effective image interpretation.

3) Safety and Infection Control

  • Adhere to safety and infection control policies.
  • Report unsafe equipment and ensure follow-up actions are taken.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is available and functional.

4) Additional Duties

  • Utilize principles of growth and development to assess and treat patients according to their age-specific needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and facility-related information.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required.
Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Experience: Previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred.

Certifications:

  • CPR certification required within the first six months of employment.
  • Registry for Radiologic Technologists with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) must be completed within 12 months.
  • Registry in Mammography with ARRT must be achieved within 12 months.

Desired Skills: Proficient patient care skills, including first-aid and CPR. Strong technical skills in diagnostic imaging, mammography, and BMD are essential. Ability to work independently, make informed decisions based on patient conditions, and follow directions. Flexibility, reliability, and professionalism are required.
