Position Overview

The primary role of the registered technologist at Raleigh Radiology involves delivering diagnostic imaging services, including mammographic imaging and bone mineral density (BMD) assessments. The technologist is tasked with ensuring seamless patient care coordination while adhering to established protocols, policies, and specific directives. This position requires registration in Radiography and Mammography modalities, with a rotation through all imaging services, including BMD.

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, with responsibilities as a floater.

Key Responsibilities

1) General Diagnostic Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional care standards and uphold patient confidentiality.
  • Implement Raleigh Radiology's policies and procedures effectively.
  • Conduct ordered procedures safely and efficiently, ensuring all required views are obtained.
  • Evaluate patients' physical and psychosocial conditions, prioritizing needs and responding appropriately.
  • Document and report relevant observations and reactions to care provided.
  • Administer contrast media to patients as assigned.
  • Assist with specific tests and procedures as necessary.
  • Participate in the economical use of supplies and ensure equipment is maintained and ready for use.
  • Foster open communication and collaboration with colleagues and patients.
  • Utilize teaching opportunities with patients and their families.
  • Assist in emergency situations as needed, maintaining a safe environment.
  • Exhibit teamwork and support colleagues in achieving departmental goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

2) Patient Care Activities

  • Gather initial patient history and conduct assessments.
  • Complete and document patient history forms accurately.
  • Perform ongoing assessments, including vital signs and relevant medical history.
  • Continuously observe and assess patients throughout their visits.
  • Document any changes in patient condition and communicate with the supervising Radiologist.

3) Safety and Infection Control

  • Adhere to safety and infection control protocols diligently.
  • Report any unsafe equipment and ensure proper follow-up.
  • Plan for safety and infection control in patient care.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is available and functioning properly.
  • Document incidents and unusual occurrences as per departmental policies.

4) Additional Duties

  • Apply principles of growth and development to assess and treat patients according to their age-specific needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all patient and facility-related information.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Experience: Previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred.

Certifications:

  • CPR certification required or must be obtained within the first six months of employment.
  • Successful completion of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registry for Radiologic Technologists within 12 months.
  • Completion of the ARRT registry in Mammography within 12 months.

Desired Skills: Proficient patient care skills, including first aid and CPR. Strong technical abilities in diagnostic imaging, mammography, and BMD are essential. The ability to work independently, make informed decisions based on patient conditions, and follow directions is required. Flexibility, reliability, and professionalism are critical attributes.
