Position Overview

The primary role of the registered technologist at Raleigh Radiology involves delivering diagnostic imaging services, including mammographic assessments and bone mineral density (BMD) evaluations. The technologist is tasked with ensuring comprehensive patient care while adhering to established protocols and guidelines. Registration in Radiography and Mammography is mandatory, with a requirement to rotate through all modalities, including BMD.

Work Schedule: Full-Time position, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

1) General Imaging Duties (50%)

  • Maintain high standards of professional care and uphold patient confidentiality.
  • Implement the policies and procedures of Raleigh Radiology.
  • Conduct imaging procedures safely and efficiently, ensuring all necessary views are captured.
  • Evaluate patients' physical and psychological conditions, prioritizing their needs and providing appropriate responses.
  • Document and report significant observations and reactions related to care provided.
  • Administer contrast agents to designated patients.
  • Assist with various tests and procedures as required.
  • Utilize supplies economically and ensure equipment is maintained and ready for use.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and physicians to provide optimal patient care.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and team members.
  • Utilize educational opportunities with patients and their families.
  • Respond to emergencies and implement necessary measures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Actively participate as a team player, demonstrating respect and courtesy towards all individuals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

2) Patient Care Activities (35%)

  • Gather initial patient history and perform assessments.
  • Complete and document necessary history sheets.
  • Conduct assessments that may include vital signs and relevant medical history.
  • Continuously observe and assess patients throughout their visits.
  • Provide accurate information regarding patient history to assist Radiologists in image interpretation.

3) Safety and Infection Control (10%)

  • Adhere to safety and infection control policies.
  • Report any unsafe equipment and ensure proper follow-up.
  • Assess patients for safety and infection control measures.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is available and functioning properly.

4) Additional Responsibilities (5%)

  • Utilize principles of growth and development to meet patients' age-specific needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and facility-related information.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Certifications:

  • CPR certification required within the first six months of employment.
  • Registry completion for Radiologic Technologists with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 12 months.
  • Registry completion in Mammography with ARRT within 12 months.

Desired Skills: Proficient patient care skills, including first-aid and CPR. Strong technical skills in diagnostic imaging and mammography are essential. Ability to work independently and make informed decisions based on patient conditions.

Working Conditions

Must be able to read printed materials without strain and hear conversational voices, with or without assistive devices. Exposure to infections and contagious diseases may occur. Frequent standing and walking are required, along with the ability to lift and transfer patients.
