Job Summary

Idaho Housing and Finance Association is seeking a highly skilled Loss Mitigation Specialist/Counselor to join our Mortgage Loan Servicing department. As a key member of our team, you will work directly with borrowers who are past due on their payments, providing financial education and counseling to help them achieve loan resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loan Status Assessment: Accurately assess loan status and borrower circumstances to provide effective assistance or referrals.
  • Payment Direction: Provide accurate direction regarding methods of payment based on loan circumstances.
  • HUD Counseling: Provide HUD counseling to borrowers.
  • Home Retention Programs: Review borrowers for Home Retention Programs specific to loan type.
  • Property Preservation: Order property inspections and facilitate property preservation efforts as needed.
  • Delinquency Resolution: Resolve delinquency through collection efforts and borrower assistance programs.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in mortgage loan servicing or financial services collection.
  • Loss Mitigation Programs: Experience with loss mitigation programs and loan counseling preferred.
  • Certification: HUD Counseling Certification obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, team player, exceptional organization and time management skills, strong phone etiquette and customer service skills, and ability to exercise prudent judgment.
