Our scenic 30-acre campus is beautifully situated between the serene waters of Lower Whitefish and Big Trout lakes. Open throughout the year, our modern amenities and picturesque northern woods setting make us an ideal venue for retreats, conferences, social events, meetings, or training sessions from September to May. Camp Knutson operates under the auspices of Lutheran Social Service MN (LSS).

Position Overview: The Kitchen Assistant role entails approximately 10-15 hours of work per week, with hours varying according to the season.

As a Kitchen Assistant, your responsibilities will include assisting in food preparation and supporting various kitchen operations at Camp Knutson. Key duties involve:

  • Preparing food, which includes cooking as directed, setting up salad bars, and restocking supplies.
  • Addressing the dietary requirements of guests with special diets.
  • Cleaning up after meals, ensuring proper storage and labeling of all food items.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, which includes washing dishes, cleaning surfaces after meals, managing waste disposal, and sweeping and mopping floors.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Possession of a Serve Safe Certificate or the ability to obtain one.
  • Capability to engage positively with both youth and adults.
  • Understanding and application of Food Safety principles.
  • Ability to accurately label and mark food items.
  • Competence in following recipes and utilizing measurement tools as necessary.
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in assigned duties under the guidance of Food Service Managers and other Camp Leadership.
