Position Title: Non-Ferrous Metals Trader - Recycling Sector

Position Objective:

The Non-Ferrous Metals Trader will oversee the procurement and sale of non-ferrous metals, directing trading operations, and enhancing profitability through insightful market evaluations and trading strategies. The role will primarily involve purchasing for direct customer shipments but may also encompass sourcing for other company facilities. Collaboration with various departments is essential to achieve these objectives. The trader must excel in account management, including initiating contact with potential clients. Staying informed about local and global pricing trends is crucial. Compensation is competitive, ranging from $150k to $190k base salary depending on experience, plus bonuses.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Research:

  • Perform comprehensive analyses of metal markets, focusing on supply and demand projections, pricing trends, and fundamental market dynamics.
  • Remain informed about global economic indicators and geopolitical developments that influence metal pricing.
  • Employ financial instruments such as futures, options, and ETFs to hedge against risks or speculate on price fluctuations.

Trading Operations:

  • Execute trades in both ferrous and non-ferrous metals on commodity exchanges or via over-the-counter markets.
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of metal assets, ensuring optimal performance and effective risk management.
  • Formulate and execute trading strategies to leverage market opportunities.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Establish and nurture relationships with suppliers, buyers, and other market stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers and buyers to secure advantageous terms.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, including logistics, finance, and compliance, to facilitate seamless trading operations.

Risk Assessment:

  • Monitor and manage trading risks, including market, credit, and operational risks.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the company's trading positions.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and company policies.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and deliver regular reports on trading performance, market conditions, and risk exposure.
  • Maintain precise records of all trading activities, contracts, and transactions.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market evaluations and trading outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline; or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in metals trading, with a focus on non-ferrous markets.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
  • Proficient in utilizing trading platforms and financial analysis tools.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and make swift, informed decisions.
  • In-depth knowledge of global metal markets and trading regulations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.

Additional Information:

  • This role may necessitate occasional travel to industry events and meetings with suppliers and buyers.
  • The Non-Ferrous Metals Trader will report to the Trading Manager and collaborate closely with risk management and finance teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% is required.
