Job Summary

Under the direction of the Radiology Director and Manager, the Radiology Imaging Specialist produces high-quality diagnostic medical radiographs to ensure proper diagnosis and quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produces quality images by using appropriate exposure technique to ensure proper penetration of the area being radiographed.
  • Demonstrates the proper use of metal markers and/or placement of markers electronically.
  • Documents an appropriate patient history containing pertinent patient information regarding their condition and including patient limitations.
  • Verifies physician orders prior to the start of the exam.
  • Utilizes the Kodak CR Imaging System to produce quality films and performs the following tasks:
    • Starts up and shuts down the CR system.
    • Navigates the different information screens and ensures that the correct patient and procedure are selected for exposure.
    • Reprints exams as needed.
    • Loads cassettes properly.
    • Cleans cassettes as needed.
    • Loads the laser printer correctly with film.
    • Troubleshoots problems and/or knows how to call for support.
  • Performs OR/Surgery cases using C-arms and portable machines efficiently.
  • Supervises and teaches Radiology students exams and procedures as part of their clinical rotation, providing feedback to the Clinical Educator on their performance.
  • Communicates technical information in a manner appropriate for the intended person (patient, co-worker, etc.).
  • Responds to changes in the workload using time to departmental advantage.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Radiology Technology program and registry eligible.
  • 1 year of experience preferred but new grads welcome.
  • ARRT required.
Working Conditions

Exposure to blood and body fluid. Exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other biological hazards. Subject to varying or unpredictable situations.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for and walk for long periods of time. Ability to lift, push, and pull 100 plus pounds. Ability to move or transfer patients. Ability to deal with strenuous and physical activity daily in lifting, pulling, pushing, patients, radiographic equipment, cassettes, and/or supplies.
