Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team at Cypress Healthcare Partners in Monterey, CA. As an LVN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Work in the clinic alongside Medical Assistant staff and follow all responsibilities outlined in the Medical Assistant job description.
  • Perform urology-specific procedures under the order and supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner.
  • Educate patient/family about diagnostic procedures, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination.
  • Screens patients for appropriate information.
  • Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
  • Maintains/reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
  • Records tests and examination results in patient's chart.
  • Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
  • Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials.
  • Ensures cleanliness.
  • Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
  • Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
  • Restock lab area daily, including all drawers and treatment trays.
  • Maintain inventory of medications and medical supplies.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Schedule referrals, procedures, and tests.
Requirements
  • State-licensed vocational nurse.
  • High school diploma. Graduation from an approved vocational nursing program.
  • Prefer a minimum of one-year LVN experience.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies, and functions.
  • Understanding of documentation standards.
  • Knowledge of equipment, supplies, and materials needed for medical treatment.
  • Understanding of basic laboratory procedures including preparation and screening.
  • Knowledge of infectious disease management and control and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
  • Knowledge of management and organizational theory to supervise the business practices including principles of employee development to train, delegate, and mentor staff.

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to appropriately interact with patients, families, staff, and others.
  • Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and direct the work of others.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
Physical/Mental Demands

Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment. Occasionally lifting and carrying files up to 50 pounds. May require working under stressful conditions.

Environmental/Working Conditions

Normal office and exam room environment. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
