Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our market analytics and trading support team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing fundamental price drivers, refining and updating our DAYZER production cost model, and providing decision-oriented support for trading decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Build a Power Fundamental Analytics Team: Develop and manage a team of analysts to provide market insights and support trading decisions.
  • Identify Gaps in Fundamental Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis to identify gaps in our current market analysis and develop a holistic strategy to address these gaps.
  • Build a Network within the RWE Analyst Community: Foster relationships with analysts across the organization to share knowledge and gain access to group intelligence.
  • Work with Commercial Functions: Collaborate with commercial teams to collect and provide the best available knowledge on fundamental drivers.
  • Develop Trading Recommendations: Use market analysis to develop trading recommendations and strategies to support the direction of trading.
  • Ensure Model Accuracy: Ensure that our DAYZER model is refined and updated, and that scenarios are developed and model runs are performed on a daily basis.
  • Interpret Results: Interpret model results to provide decision-oriented support for trading decisions.
  • Evaluate External Studies: Evaluate external studies and forecasts to inform market analysis.
  • Deliver Long-Term Market View: Provide a long-term market view for strategic projects and general valuations.
Requirements
  • University Degree: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent.
  • Professional Experience: 3-5 years of professional work experience in the electricity market in a commercial environment, ideally with leadership experience.
  • Conceptual Understanding: Strong conceptual understanding of electricity markets, including security-constrained economic dispatch and unit-commitment, nodal/zonal price formation, capacity auctions, co-optimization of energy and reserves, and levelized cost of electricity.
  • Fundamental Modelling: Experience in fundamental modelling, particularly production cost modelling for electricity markets, and experience with production modelling tools, such as DAYZER or similar.
  • Quantitative and Analytical Skills: Very strong quantitative and analytical skills, including the ability to transfer algorithms into model conduct.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, including the ability to transfer knowledge between analysis and decision makers in other departments.
  • IT Skills: Excellent IT skills, including the ability to model in main languages such as Python and in the MS Windows environment, particularly Excel, Access.
  • Language Skills: Business fluent in English.
  • Team Player: Very good team player, high level of self-motivation and flexibility, ability to work in a competitive environment and to meet tight deadlines.
