Electronics Systems Technician for Rail Vehicles

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is one of the largest transportation systems in the United States, operating a vast network of fixed route services including bus, subway/elevated, trackless trolley, light rail, and commuter rail serving over 2,200 square miles. We are seeking highly skilled Electronics Systems Technicians to join our team in the City Transit Division.
CompensationAs an Electronics Systems Technician at SEPTA, you can expect a competitive salary of $42.67 per hour, with opportunities for advancement and professional growth. With over two years of experience, your hourly wage will increase to $48.92.
Job DescriptionWe are looking for experienced electronics technicians who possess exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electronic systems. As an Electronics Systems Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and calibrating all rail vehicle electronic printed circuit boards and subsystems assigned to the Woodland Electronic Repair Shop. You will provide technical support to all rail locations and assist the engineering department with electrical and electronic projects.
Responsibilities- Maintain and repair electronic printed circuit boards and subsystems using advanced diagnostic tools and equipment
- Perform troubleshooting and repair tasks on analog, digital, and microprocessor-controlled printed circuit boards down to component level
- Interpret electrical, electronic, and mechanical schematics to identify potential issues and implement repairs
- Use soldering and de-soldering equipment to remove and insert semiconductor devices
- Conduct diagnostic tests using complex electronic measuring instruments and computer software
- Operate Automated Test Equipment (ATE) to test and troubleshoot printed circuit boards
- Repair damaged conductors, edge connectors, and plated holes using circuit repair kits
- Test and repair high-power semiconductor modules
- Perform failure analysis on printed circuit boards and recommend improvements to increase reliability
To be successful as an Electronics Systems Technician at SEPTA, you must have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent with two years of electronic technical school, associate degree in electronics, or military electronics-technical training
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to interpret electrical, electronic, and mechanical schematics
- Experience working with static-sensitive devices and complex electronic measuring instruments
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
