Position Overview

As a vital member of the Radiation Oncology department, the Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality radiation treatment to patients. This role involves meticulous preparation and positioning of patients, ensuring precise delivery of prescribed radiation doses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer radiation therapy to designated areas of the patient's body according to treatment plans.
  • Accurately prepare and position patients, selecting appropriate anatomical parameters.
  • Collaborate with physicians and dosimetrists to implement effective treatment strategies.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all therapy sessions and patient interactions.
  • Ensure the functionality and safety of equipment, including linear accelerators.
  • Adhere to regulatory standards and guidelines in all procedures.
  • Facilitate the timely submission of high-quality images and documentation to the PACS system.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment within the department.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current BLS Provider certification required within one month of hire.
  • One of the following credentials is required:
    • Cardiographic Technician certification from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
    • Radiologic Technologist certification specializing in Radiation Therapy from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
    • Medical Sonographer certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Education:

  • High School diploma with two years of relevant experience, or an Associate's/Technical degree, or four years of applicable experience.
