Lead Research Associate in Molecular Biology

Astrix is a pioneering biotechnology firm dedicated to advancing viral gene therapy through innovative genomics research. We are currently seeking a driven Senior Research Associate to become a vital member of our Translational Science division.
This position encompasses the processing of diverse tissue samples, the creation of molecular assays, and the execution of thorough data analysis.
Compensation: $45-$53/hr
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with scientists and fellow associates to design, troubleshoot, and validate various molecular assays to support ongoing nonclinical investigations.
- Assist the molecular biology team in executing experiments, analyzing results, documenting findings, and ensuring high-quality standards in experimental design and execution.
- Adhere to established procedures while proactively enhancing and updating current assays and instrument protocols as necessary.
- Diagnose issues with assays and instruments, conveying technical information effectively.
- Engage in the review of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.
- Oversee routine laboratory operations, including the procurement, organization, and inventory management of molecular biology reagents, consumables, and equipment.
- Participate in internal and cross-functional meetings and collaborative discussions.
- Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety protocols and maintain comprehensive documentation in electronic notebooks.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field with 4-6 years of relevant experience in industry or academia.
- Extensive practical experience in performing molecular assays for tissue DNA and RNA extraction and quantification using qPCR, digital droplet PCR, sequencing, and other techniques across various biological samples.
- Proficiency in sample quality assessment tools such as Bioanalyzer and TapeStation, along with familiarity with high-throughput nucleic acid purification systems like KingFisher.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities and experience in coordinating with individuals of varying expertise.
- A collaborative approach and a readiness to engage with diverse teams.
