Athletics Communications Manager

About the Role

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Coordinator / Creative Communications. This role will play a key part in developing and executing creative content strategies to promote Virginia Tech Athletics and its brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned sports and manage their respective social media accounts.
  • Develop and implement creative content strategies to promote Virginia Tech student athletes and coaches.
  • Engage with recruits, fans, and donors through various digital media channels.
  • Collaborate with the Director / Creative Communications to ensure alignment with departmental goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of social media, graphic design, video, digital media, and written media in athletics.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong work ethic.
  • High degree of integrity and commitment to men's and women's athletics and to the values of diversity.
  • Proficient in using a variety of programs within the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of social media best practices and emerging platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a Division I collegiate athletics program.
  • Experience with Volleyball and/or Track and Field sports.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as it relates to job responsibilities.
  • Experience in generating creative content and implementing a content strategy to assist recruiting efforts.
