Job Title: Energy Marketing Manager

Join American Municipal Power-Ohio as an Energy Marketing Manager and take on a challenging role that requires strategic thinking and expertise in the electric utility industry.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Marketing Manager to lead our energy control center and optimize our power supply forecasting, planning, and hedging strategies. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the electric utility industry, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage processes to evaluate power supply system options and plans for AMP and its members.
  • Keep AMP management informed of power supply options and ensure compliance with risk management policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the evaluation of power supply resource options, including generation projects and purchase power agreements.
  • Participate in daily communication with The Energy Authority (TEA) on natural gas scheduling and procurement, risk management activities, and generation offers.
  • Develop key performance indicators to track power supply and hedging strategies for AMP and its members.
  • Coordinate outage planning, peak shaving, and resource dispatching with AMP Generation Operations and Planning groups.
  • Oversee transmission procurement on OASIS, NERC tagging, ICE-InterContinental Exchange, and trade capture systems.
  • Supervise and manage the Energy Control Center staff, including training Power Dispatchers and staff in Energy Control Center procedures and information systems.
  • Responsible for the supervision and oversight of the sales/purchases of Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) and emission allowances for AMP-owned or member-owned resources.
  • Stay abreast of PJM and MISO rules and impacts on members and AMP projects.
  • Work with Planning/Finance/Accounting to review power supply invoices and ensure quality.
Requirements
  • A four-year degree in engineering, finance, or business-related field or other relevant practice areas.
  • 10+ years of experience in the electric utility industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electric utility standards, operations, markets, and generation.
  • Ability to work in a 24-hour operating environment and travel as needed.
  • PJM Generation Operator certification.
  • Successful completion of FERC Standards of Conduct compliance training within 30 days of employment.
