Department Overview
The Electric Operations division is committed to delivering safe and reliable electric services to our customers. This team manages all aspects of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, which include planning, engineering, maintenance, construction, asset management, business strategy, restoration, and emergency response.
Position Summary
This role is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) and is subject to collective bargaining agreements.
Under general supervision, this position necessitates the exercise of judgment and discretion in overseeing all facets of assigned projects. The role acts as the primary liaison for these projects, which typically extend over multiple years, involve substantial risk management, and may include formal collaborations with external entities. Assignments are high-profile, requiring extensive project management expertise and often necessitating specialized knowledge in areas such as:
- Electric transmission substation initiatives
- Electric transmission line projects
This position operates in a hybrid model, balancing remote work with attendance at designated work locations based on business needs. The designated work location will be within the PG&E Bay Area-Central Coast region.
Compensation Information
PG&E is sharing the salary range that the company believes it might offer for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the job's locality. The actual salary offered will depend on various factors, including specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.
The salary range is as follows:
CA Minimum: $148,272
CA Maximum: $190,488
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures project objectives are realistic and achievable.
- Guides engineering teams in developing complex risk assessments, alternative analyses, and conceptual designs for presentation to project sponsors.
- Manages and oversees EPC contracts in accordance with ESC guidelines.
- Facilitates negotiations for third-party contracts to support other departments as necessary.
- Promotes and implements company-wide best practices.
- Delivers presentations to PG&E executives as required.
- Resolves conflicts that arise within project scopes.
- Mentors and supports less experienced project managers.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience at PG&E (or 9 years outside) in project management, project controls, engineering, and/or construction.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Desired Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering for substation projects and Civil Engineering for transmission line projects.
- Proficient knowledge and experience with electric substations and transmission line projects.
- Fluent in utilizing project management tools and current company software, including SAP Financials and Work Management modules, as well as Microsoft Project Scheduling Software.
