Under general supervision, this position is accountable for the comprehensive management and execution of designated projects, serving as the primary point of contact. Projects typically span multiple years, involve considerable risk management, and may necessitate formal partnerships with external entities. The assignments are high-profile, demanding advanced project management expertise and often require specialized knowledge in areas such as:

  • Electric transmission substation initiatives
  • Electric transmission line undertakings

This role operates in a hybrid model, combining remote work with on-site responsibilities as dictated by business requirements. The designated work area will be within the PG&E Bay Area-Central Coast region.

PG&E is providing a salary range that reflects the company's good faith estimate for this position at the time of posting. This compensation range is specific to the job's locality. The actual salary offered will depend on various factors, including but not limited to, individual skills, educational background, licenses or certifications, experience, market conditions, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity considerations.

The salary range is as follows:

CA Minimum: $148,272

CA Maximum: $190,488

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures project objectives are realistic and attainable.
  • Guides engineering teams in conducting complex risk assessments and alternative analyses, as well as preparing conceptual designs for project sponsors.
  • Manages and oversees EPC contracts in alignment with ESC guidelines.
  • Facilitates negotiations for third-party contracts, supporting other departments as necessary.
  • Develops and promotes best practices across the organization.
  • Delivers presentations to PG&E executives as required.
  • Resolves conflicts that arise within project teams.
  • Mentors and supports junior project managers.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience at PG&E (or 9 years in other organizations) in project management, project controls, engineering, or construction.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering for substation projects or Civil Engineering for transmission line projects.
  • Experience and knowledge in electric substations and transmission line projects.
  • Proficient in project management tools and current company software, including SAP Financials, Work Management modules, and Microsoft Project Scheduling Software.
