As a key member of our development team, you will play a critical role in securing philanthropic investments from foundations to support the University's strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for foundation relations, including identifying and cultivating key foundation partners, developing and submitting proposals, and stewarding relationships.
- Manage a team of foundation relations professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure successful outcomes.
- Collaborate with University leadership, faculty, and staff to advance the University's strategic priorities and secure philanthropic support.
- Develop and maintain relationships with foundation leaders and program officers, ensuring a deep understanding of their interests and priorities.
- Provide strategic support to colleges, schools, and units across campus, helping them to sustain and enhance their relationships with existing foundation partners.
- Stay up-to-date on trends and developments in the foundation sector, identifying opportunities for the University to secure philanthropic support.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 7-10+ years of increasingly responsible experience in foundation and/or major gifts fundraising or related fields.
- Proven track record of successful full-cycle fundraising strategy and closure of six- and seven-figure+ gifts.
- Leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of professionals.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with ability to establish and maintain relationships with diverse individuals and groups.
- Ability to drive results, with a strong focus on achieving goals and objectives.
- Ambition and entrepreneurial mindset, with ability to strategically coach and grow a successful team.
- Demonstrated ability to show tenacity and be nimble, with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
- Intellectual curiosity and desire to appreciate, understand, and advance the academic and scientific pursuits of the University.
- Highly effective communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal), with ability to think strategically and creatively.
- Project management skills, with ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience working with VIP, Raiser's Edge or other similar CRM, with ability to use discretion and maintain integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to travel frequently, overnight, and weekends as necessary.
