Position Overview:
The Clinical Nutrition Specialist is responsible for delivering personalized nutrition interventions tailored to the unique needs of patients, families, and their significant others. This role emphasizes the importance of cultural, ethnic, and personal preferences in developing effective nutrition care plans.

Work Schedule:
  • Full-time: 32-40 hours per week
  • Part-time: 20 hours per week
Available Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Programs Offered:

Focus areas include Mental Health Recovery and Eating Disorder Recovery.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct individual and group nutrition therapy utilizing the Nutrition Care Process (NCP).
  • Identify patients at nutritional risk through comprehensive assessments.
  • Perform dietitian evaluations based on identified risk levels.
  • Deliver tailored nutrition therapy sessions to meet patient needs.
  • Facilitate meal outings, grocery tours, cooking classes, and life-skills workshops as needed.
  • Advise on transitional feeding strategies and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team on nutrition therapy administration.
  • Provide education on drug/nutrient interactions and adjust the Individualized Plan of Care (IPOC) accordingly.

Qualifications:
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Dietetics.
  • Completion of an ACEND accredited supervised practice program (Dietetic internship).
  • Successful completion of the Registration Examination for Dietitians.
  • If not yet licensed, a copy of the submitted application is required, with the expectation to pass the registration exam within six months of hire.
  • Maintain registration through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • State certification is required (up to six months post-hire allowed to obtain certification).
  • One year of experience in a clinical environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission and other regulatory compliance standards.
  • Formal training in crisis prevention and intervention is mandatory within sixty days of hire, with annual recertification.
  • Dietitians in community-based residential facilities must complete first aid, fire safety, and standard precautions training within ninety days of hire.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification is required within thirty days of hire, with annual recertification.
