Clinical Nutrition Specialist

Position Overview:
The Clinical Nutrition Specialist is responsible for delivering personalized nutrition strategies to individuals and groups, taking into account the unique cultural, ethnic, and personal preferences of each patient. This role involves ongoing assessment and modification of nutrition care plans through a collaborative approach with interdisciplinary teams.
Work Schedule:
Full-time: 32-40 hours per week
Part-time: 20 hours per week
Available Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Programs Offered:
Mental Health Recovery or Eating Disorder Recovery
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group nutrition therapy using the Nutrition Care Process (NCP).
- Assess patients to identify those at nutritional risk through nursing evaluations.
- Conduct comprehensive dietitian assessments based on risk levels identified during screenings.
- Provide tailored nutrition therapy sessions to meet individual patient needs.
- Facilitate meal/snack outings, grocery store tours, cooking workshops, and life-skills training as required by the program schedule or patient needs.
- Advise on transitional feeding strategies and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate nutrition therapy and food administration.
- Educate patients on drug/nutrient interactions and adjust the Individualized Plan of Care (IPOC) as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Dietetics.
- Completion of an ACEND accredited supervised practice program (Dietetic internship).
- Successful completion of the Registration Examination for Dietitians. If not yet licensed, a copy of the submitted application must be provided, with an expectation to pass the exam within six months of hire.
- Maintain registration through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Obtain and maintain state certification (up to six months post-hire allowed for certification).
- Preferred: One year of experience in a clinical environment.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory compliance standards.
- Completion of formal training in crisis prevention and intervention within sixty days of hire, with annual recertification required.
- Dietitians in community-based residential facilities must complete first aid, fire safety, and standard precautions training within ninety days of hire.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification is required within thirty days of hire, with annual recertification.
