The Clinical Nutrition Specialist is responsible for delivering personalized nutrition interventions tailored to the unique needs of patients, their families, and significant others, while respecting their cultural, ethnic, and personal preferences. The nutrition care plan is continuously assessed and adjusted through a collaborative interdisciplinary approach.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Program Focus: Adult Eating Disorder - Inpatient

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct both group and individual nutrition therapy utilizing the Nutrition Care Process (NCP).
  • Identify patients at nutritional risk through comprehensive nursing assessments.
  • Perform dietitian evaluations on individuals based on their risk levels identified during screening.
  • Deliver personalized nutrition therapy as frequently as required to meet patient needs.
  • Facilitate meal/snack outings, grocery store tours, cooking sessions, and life-skills workshops as dictated by program requirements or patient needs.
  • Advocate for transitional feeding strategies (from enteral to oral intake and vice versa) and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to determine the appropriate delivery of nutrition therapies and food.
  • Provide tailored education on drug/nutrient interactions as necessary and modify the Individualized Plan of Care (IPOC) accordingly.

Additional Information:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics.
  • Completion of an ACEND accredited supervised practice program (Dietetic internship).
  • Successful completion of the Registration Examination for Dietitians.
  • Maintain registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Obtain and uphold state certification (up to 90 days post-hire allowed for certification).
  • Preferred: One (1) year of experience in a clinical environment.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory compliance standards.
  • Formal training in crisis prevention and intervention is required within sixty (60) days of hire, with annual recertification.
  • Dietitians in a Community based Residential Facility (CBRF), Residential Care Center (RCC) program, or pool staff must complete CBRF first aid, fire safety, and standard precautions within ninety (90) days of hire.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification is required within thirty (30) days of hire, with annual re-certification.
