Position Overview

This role is essential in fostering a supportive environment at the Stevens Point Area YMCA, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing community well-being through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional service to all members, guests, and program participants, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate and promote the mission, vision, and values of the Stevens Point Area YMCA.
  • Welcome and assist all members, guests, and staff with a friendly demeanor, aiming to surpass member expectations.
  • Implement strategies for member service and engagement that attract new members and retain existing ones in a friendly setting.
  • Facilitate connections among members, linking them to relevant programs and interests.
  • Manage individual cash drawer and complete shift close-out procedures.
  • Conduct engaging tours to potential members, fostering relationships.
  • Communicate membership options and benefits to both prospective and current members to enhance retention.
  • Build meaningful relationships by understanding members' needs beyond basic interactions.
  • Notify members of account updates in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Report unusual situations or unresolved issues to the supervisor/director promptly.
  • Adhere to all YMCA policies regarding membership services.
  • Be knowledgeable of emergency procedures and ensure a safe environment.
  • Participate in assigned meetings and training sessions, as well as special events.
  • Support the YMCA's annual support campaign with knowledge and enthusiasm.
  • Assist in training new staff and providing additional training to current staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in customer service, sales, and cash handling is preferred.
  • Certifications in CPR/AED & First Aid, along with completion of New Employee Orientations, are required within 60 days of hire.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively engage with diverse groups from various social and economic backgrounds.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • A genuine desire and capability to work with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
