Position Overview:

This role in Civil Engineering will integrate you into our multi-disciplinary team, offering a broad spectrum of engineering services. These services encompass land development, site enhancements, adaptive reuse renovations, drainage and utility planning, among others. Typical project responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating on diverse projects such as slope and shoreline stabilization, retaining wall systems, foundation drainage systems, floodproofing, and plaza drainage systems.
  • Investigating failures and performance issues within civil engineering systems.
  • Designing layouts, grading, and drainage for land development and site enhancement projects.
  • Conducting due diligence and risk assessments for land development initiatives.
  • Implementing sustainable development practices, including urban recharge.
  • Assessing and mitigating flood risks.
  • Conducting utility and drainage investigations and designs.
  • Performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, and landscape architects for plaza reconstruction.
  • Evaluating accessibility and proposing suitable design or rehabilitation measures.
  • Analyzing and designing flexible and rigid pavements.
  • Assessing and designing pump systems.
  • Utilizing data analytics with Civil3D and other software.
  • Observing field operations and supporting the execution of SGH's design solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for this Civil Engineering position will align with ASCE Grade IV and will include:
  • Preparing proposals, including budgeting and staffing requirements.
  • Planning work for supervisor approval.
  • Executing assignments that require general guidance on solving unique problems.
  • Managing complex projects or segments of projects, overseeing relevant work, evaluating outcomes, and preparing reports with minimal assistance.
  • Delegating tasks while fostering a coaching relationship to supervise the technical work of project staff.
  • Maintaining direct client contact within ongoing work while cultivating relationships with external project team members.
  • Contributing to internal technical training initiatives.
  • Drafting complex correspondence, formal reports, specifications, and proposals with limited supervisory guidance.
  • Leading technical and/or project discussions with clients and external project teams.
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of relevant civil engineering experience or equivalent in a related field.
  • Professional licensure is mandatory.
  • MS or PhD in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, or a commitment to obtain an MS within four years of employment at SGH through the tuition reimbursement program.
  • Active involvement in industry organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers, including committee work, presentations, or other participatory roles.
  • Demonstrated advanced technical knowledge in your area of expertise.
  • Ability to integrate the contributions of various technical experts into a cohesive solution.
  • Prior experience with similar project types and awareness of relevant external technical resources.
  • Proficiency in personal time management and project scope management.
  • Capability to identify and manage scope changes.
  • Expertise in computer analysis software (e.g., XPStorm or XPSWMM, Civil3D, AutoCAD, AutoTurn, HydroCAD, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary and the ability to access remote job locations not served by public transport.
  • Valid driver's license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report.
