Position Overview:
The City of Prineville Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Lateral Police Officer. This role is vital in maintaining public safety and enforcing laws within the community.

Position Incentives:
  • 3.5% incentive for longevity (10 years of continuous employment).
  • 4% incentive for DPSST Intermediate Certification.
  • 7% incentive for DPSST Advance Certification.
  • 5% Incentive for Bi-Lingual.
  • 2.5% Incentive for Physical Fitness (ORPAT).

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Out of State Lateral Police Officer Certifications must be accepted by DPSST.
  • In State Lateral Applicants must be in good standing and have completed the DPSST Police Academy.
  • Must be within five years of employment as an officer if not currently employed.
Key Responsibilities:
This position encompasses a range of law enforcement duties, including but not limited to:
  • Conducting patrols in various areas to enforce laws and regulations.
  • Responding to a variety of service and investigative calls.
  • Investigating incidents and preparing detailed reports.
  • Providing assistance to the public and ensuring community safety.
  • Testifying in court and serving legal documents.
  • Maintaining communication with other law enforcement agencies.

Candidates should possess the following skills and abilities:
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
  • Strong decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
Special Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Certification through Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training within one year.
  • Pass a medical exam and psychological evaluation.
