The Crook County District Attorney's Office is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy District Attorney III to join our team. As a key member of our office, you will play a critical role in upholding justice and promoting community safety.
Key Responsibilities- Represent the State of Oregon as a trial lawyer in the prosecution of adult and juvenile criminal actions in Circuit Court.
- Assist the District Attorney in performing all functions of the District Attorney, including arraignments, release hearings, restitution hearings, plea/sentencing hearings, probation and vocation hearings, civil commitments, juvenile cases, child support contempt proceedings, and jury trials.
- Supervise Deputy District Attorneys, providing support and training as needed.
- Perform case intake, reviewing police reports, determining if further investigation is needed, and determining which charges, if any, will be filed and against whom.
- File charges by Information or Indictment on behalf of the District Attorney.
- Participate in crime scene investigations, reviewing crime scenes and advising on evidence seizure.
- Law degree from an accredited law school.
- Member in good standing with the Oregon State Bar.
- 5+ years of qualifying experience, with prior experience in a District Attorney's Office preferred.
- Current driver's license.
- Able to complete a thorough employment and/or criminal history check.
- Able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.
