Position Overview: Transportation Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking a skilled transportation engineer to join our established service line dedicated to enhancing transportation infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess expertise or a keen interest in advancing their career in planning, engineering design, and construction of transportation projects for public agencies. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates for various transportation initiatives. Project Engineers will also mentor and oversee the work of technical support staff assigned to projects.
Key Responsibilities
  • Creating detailed designs for urban and rural roadways from initial concepts to final plans.
  • Collaborating with team members, communities, and stakeholders to identify data requirements, project specifications, and deliverables.
  • Compiling and coordinating plans, specifications, cost estimates, and payment items.
  • Conducting studies and alternative analyses to identify optimal solutions that meet compliance and client objectives.
  • Working alongside various disciplines and reviewers to ensure high-quality, accurate deliverables.
  • Contributing to proposal development efforts.
  • Managing smaller projects and assisting Project Managers with larger project deliveries.
  • Maintaining comprehensive project documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment on complex projects.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in developing task deliverables that are thorough and ready for review.
  • Experience with local and state public agency clients (Public Works, DOTs, etc.) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ORD design software.
  • Kansas and/or Missouri Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain one upon hire is preferred.
  • Experience in transportation engineering design is advantageous.
