Job Purpose:

The role encompasses both physical and administrative responsibilities associated with the shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, storage, and distribution of materials, components, supplies, and equipment.

Tasks include packing, unpacking, and verifying goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintaining records of incoming goods, and rejecting unsatisfactory items. The position involves lifting heavy items and may require operating a forklift and a box van. Responsibilities also include preparing and maintaining shipping records, posting weights and shipping charges, and ensuring goods are ready for final shipment. This role may also be referred to as shipping, receiving, pick-packs, or store clerks. The logistics operations supervisor is tasked with training new material handlers on shipping processes and must effectively communicate and demonstrate procedures to new team members.

Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for optimizing productivity through direct oversight of material handlers or shipping associates.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:
This position necessitates the ability to load, unload, and transport materials within or adjacent to the plant or work site.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Loading and unloading materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves manually, with weights up to 60 pounds.
  • Packaging, unpacking, crating, and strapping materials for shipping.
  • Serving as the primary contact for both customers and internal management regarding all operational activities related to the shipping department.
  • Collaborating with customers and suppliers to provide accurate data and proactively resolving shipping discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Closing work orders and recording shipping orders in the computer system, including printing and labeling items and shipping containers with the appropriate documentation.
  • Providing operational support by identifying training needs versus process Work Instruction/SOP.
  • Reporting to the area supervisor on matters related to conformance, inventory, or materials reports as required.
  • Monitoring shipping key performance indicators.
  • Assisting with receiving activities as needed and may be assigned additional material handler duties.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
  • Proactively practicing safety warehouse rules.
  • Leading and participating in 5S and continuous improvement initiatives within the warehouse.
  • Completing all assigned training in a timely manner.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
  • Ability to read English and communicate effectively with others.
  • Demonstrated responsibility and flexibility.

  • Familiarity with Safety Warehouse Rules.
  • Knowledge of Oracle is a plus, along with basic Excel and MS Word skills.
