Educational Support Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this role encompasses a variety of technical and administrative tasks aimed at assisting educators.
The employee will engage in numerous activities to support the lead teacher, cater to the diverse needs of students, and ensure high-quality educational experiences for all learners.
Responsibilities include aiding the lead teacher with classroom management and administrative tasks. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Collaborates with the teacher to implement instructional strategies and assess their effectiveness.
2. Vigilantly monitors the safety and well-being of students, promoting their independence.
3. Observes student behavior and assists in maintaining classroom discipline.
4. Provides academic support to students, reinforcing and clarifying instructions, and offering small group or individual assistance as required.
5. Maintains accurate records and documentation regarding student progress.
6. Performs various administrative tasks as necessary, including tracking student progress, filing incident reports, grading assignments, recording attendance, and maintaining class files.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:Participates in professional development workshops and performs other related tasks as needed. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma along with a minimum of 48 credit hours of college coursework is required, with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Experience working with children aged 3-7 is essential.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be capable of utilizing various classroom equipment and tools, including computers, copiers, and educational materials for children with special needs.
Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Due to the nature of the work, physical requirements align with those for Light Work.

Requires the ability to compare and assess observable characteristics of data, individuals, or objects against established standards.
INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION:
Requires the ability to communicate effectively to convey or exchange information, including receiving instructions and assignments from supervisors. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- General understanding of the activities conducted by the lead teacher.
- Familiarity with daily classroom routines.
- Awareness of the student handbook and emergency procedures.
- Basic knowledge of the curriculum for the assigned grade level.
- Ability to consistently monitor student safety and well-being.
- Capability to maintain an organized and clean environment.
- Proficiency in performing general administrative tasks.
- Ability to uphold order and discipline within the classroom.
- Competence in maintaining essential files and records.
- Ability to comprehend and follow both oral and written instructions.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships as required by job assignments.
