Overview: The Association of Academic Museums & Galleries is dedicated to enhancing the educational mission of academic institutions through its extensive collection and programming.
This role focuses on fostering educational initiatives that align with the institution's objectives. The Academic Museum Education Specialist will collaborate closely with the Education Curator to enhance the learning experiences offered by the museum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in identifying and developing educational opportunities that complement academic courses through exhibitions and collection objects.
- Manage and facilitate a series of educational programs, including virtual and in-person tours for various audiences.
- Research and curate educational content related to the museum's permanent collection for lesson plans and digital platforms.
- Engage with K-12 educators to create tailored educational programs and resources.
- Collaborate with faculty to promote the museum's offerings and integrate them into academic curricula.
- Develop promotional materials, including family guides and exhibition brochures, in partnership with Visitor Services.
- Create and manage digital content, including videos and social media posts, to enhance the museum's online presence.
- Support administrative tasks related to artist engagements and program logistics.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in a museum setting (1-3 years preferred). The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong organizational and management skills.
- Excellent public speaking abilities and experience leading diverse groups.
- Familiarity with technology, video production, and social media strategies.
- Experience in educational programming within a museum context (3-5 years preferred).
