Position Overview
The Museum Education Specialist will collaborate closely with the Director of Education to fulfill the educational objectives of the association.
This role involves identifying opportunities to enrich academic courses through curated exhibitions and collection objects, as well as developing initiatives tailored for K-12 education.
The Specialist will manage a series of weekly educational programs and lead tours for various groups, including community members and academic classes.
This position also includes researching collection items to create lesson plans, social media content, and educational materials for the association's digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director of Education to implement educational programs, including logistical management and setup.
- Develop K-12 educational initiatives by crafting lesson plans and age-appropriate tours, while engaging with local educators.
- Facilitate outreach to faculty and coordinate resources for teachers.
- Engage with professors, educators, and community organizations to promote the use of the association's exhibitions and programs.
- Work with Visitor Services to create and distribute family guides and accessibility resources for exhibitions.
- Produce and manage digital content, including photography, video, and virtual tours of exhibitions and programs.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including managing artist payments and honorariums.

Requirements and Preferences
Work Schedule: M-F 9am-5pm, with occasional evening programs and weekend hours as necessary.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in museum education (1-3 years).
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
- Public speaking proficiency and capability to lead tours for diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills to oversee educational programs and introduce speakers.
- Familiarity with technology, video editing, and social media platforms.
Preferred Experience
3-5 years in educational roles within a museum setting.
