Paralegal Opportunity with the State of Montana

The Office of Legal Affairs within the State of Montana is seeking a dedicated Paralegal to provide essential support to our legal team. This role entails assisting attorneys and management by performing vital tasks such as conducting legal research, facilitating legal procedures, and preparing various legal documents for attorney evaluation.

Qualifications for the Paralegal Position

  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Understanding of State and Federal court systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including familiarity with legal terminology and citations
  • Meticulous attention to detail, effective time management, and organizational skills
  • Eligibility criteria include:
  • Completion of an Associate's degree in paralegal studies from an accredited institution or
  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies from an accredited college or university; or
  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university with 18 semester credits from a recognized paralegal studies program; or
  • Certification from the national association of legal assistants or the National Federation of Paralegal Associations; or
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least 4,800 hours of legal work experience under a licensed attorney, documented and with five hours of legal ethics education; or
  • Graduation from an accredited law school without any history of disbarment or suspension from legal practice by any jurisdiction
  • Additionally, Paralegal 2 candidates must possess three years of substantive paralegal experience
