ASM Global, a leader in the management of public assembly facilities, is currently seeking an Operations Coordinator at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The Operations Coordinator will play a key role in the daily operations involving the movement and arrangement of substantial quantities of facility equipment and furnishings, including but not limited to chairs, tables, stages, wall panels, dollies, and other related items weighing up to 50 lbs, as well as ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility. This position requires decision-making skills related to the transport and setup/dismantling of equipment while maintaining a safe and clean environment for optimal safety and efficiency. Regular attendance in accordance with ASM Global's policies is essential for the successful execution of this role. This is a physically demanding position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe and clean environment.
  • Review event documentation and task lists for area setups and dismantling, completing tasks as directed.
  • Coordinate the movement of equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain inventory in designated storage areas.
  • Operate material handling equipment as required.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of materials and equipment to perform assigned duties.
  • Address spills, breakages, and debris within the facility as necessary.
  • Maintain and restock restroom facilities as needed.
  • Perform general cleaning duties, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, scrubbing floors, stripping composite floors, extracting carpets, washing glass and mirrored surfaces, cleaning walls, maintaining stainless steel, dusting, replenishing supplies, and removing rubbish and debris.
  • Dispose of all waste, including bulk trash removal from all areas of the building.
  • Adhere to all policies established by ASM Global to ensure successful performance in this role.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple English.
  • Interact with guests in a friendly, courteous, and polite manner, including initiating contact with guests within 10 feet.
  • Comfortable engaging with large groups or speaking to guests as needed.
  • Understand the significance of providing excellent customer service, recognizing that 'The Magic is in the Details.'
  • Obtain and maintain employer-sponsored Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) certification, if applicable.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience:
One to two years of experience in custodial, janitorial, or event setup roles within hotels, hospitals, offices, or commercial facilities is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to familiarize oneself with the facility's floor plan and all sections of the venue.

Upon training, must be capable of operating machinery utilized by the department (such as scrubbers, pallet jacks, chair carts, trash compactors, cardboard balers, and vacuum cleaners/extractors).

This position requires effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Working Conditions:
Exposure to various weather conditions and cleaning chemicals is expected. Flexibility in working hours is necessary. The role involves extensive walking, heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, crawling, and operating equipment both indoors and outdoors, with the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
