Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnering with a nationally accredited Government Contractor to find a skilled Payroll Manager. The ideal candidate will have experience in processing payroll account transactions, coordinating timekeeping and payroll systems, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and internal policies.

  • Develop and implement systems to process payroll account transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes, and third-party payments.
  • Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Oversee the processing of payroll changes, such as new hires, terminations, and raises, and system upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies, including payroll tax laws and regulations.
  • Supervise and coach payroll clerks and assistants to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and accounting teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports to provide insights and recommendations for process improvements.
  • Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions in a timely and professional manner.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a payroll manager or similar role, with a strong understanding of payroll procedures and related laws.
  • Excellent knowledge of multi-location payroll and taxes, including federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Familiarity with payroll software/HRIS, such as SAP, ADP, and Kronos, and MS Office, especially Excel.
  • A keen eye for detail and analytical mind, with good math skills and attention to accuracy.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to supervise and coach payroll clerks and assistants.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field, with professional certification, such as CPP or CPM, a plus.
